What If You Were There - John 20:24-25 (NKJV)

John 20:24-25 (NKJV)
“What If You Were There”

Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when JESUS came.  The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the LORD.”  So he said to them, “Unless I see in HIS hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into HIS side, I will not believe.”
-----------------------------------------------------------
Wow!  Talk about a party-pooper!  Here are the other disciples being excited about seeing JESUS alive and Thomas just crashes the party!  I’m sure it cause an uncomfortable scene for everyone.  Especially with the bold statement Thomas makes!  Thomas wants to see the prints and put his finger in them.  He couldn’t just be happy for them in their rejoicing, but he tried to bring them down.  Maybe it was because Thomas was still hurting from the loss of his LORD!  Lots of times, hurt people will hurt others.  Because he did not see, he was still hurting, and he wanted everyone else to still hurt!  Sometimes when we lose a love-one, we don’t want everyone to just go on with business as usual!  Where is the grief and pain!  Thomas wasn’t doubting . . . he was denying what he had not seen!  He wanted proof in order to move on!  Many of us can relate to this!

But here is the question, “What if you were there as one of the other disciples?”  Would you have doubt because Thomas was denying what you said you saw?  Would you think it was just your imagination?  Think about it . . . the doors were shut and JESUS appeared before you! Nine other disciples testified to see the same thing you did, but because one person comes along and denies what you saw . . . do you have doubt?  Don’t let anyone convince you that GOD has not done miracles in your life, simply because they cannot see them!  Give it some thought and ask yourself, “What if I was there as one of the other disciples”

1 Samuel 8:7 (NKJV)
“Be Careful What You Ask For”

And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected ME, that I should not reign over them.
---------------------------------------------------------

The elders came to Samuel and told him to make them a king to judge over them like all the other nations!  This is GOD’s chosen people saying they want to be like all the other nations!  The same ones who were saved from captivity . . . freed from slavery . . . delivered from bondage . . . are saying they want a king that sits on a throne . . . in a castle . . . with a few acres of land!  Of course this was upsetting to GOD’s servant, and he prayed to the LORD!  GOD reminded Samuel that the people were not rejecting him, but they were rejecting the GOD that saved them, feed them and delivered them.  The GOD that sits on the throne of heaven, rules all kingdoms and created the heaven and the earth and everything in it!  GOD went on to tell Samuel to heed what they say, but warn them that they should be careful of what they ask for.

We have to be careful what we ask for too!  GOD can’t be fired, but HE loved them enough to let them see how it feels to be outside of HIS grace and mercy.  HE loved them enough to even warn them of what was going to happen as a result of rejecting HIM!  We may think we know best in a lot of situations, but it is never a good idea or plan to reject “Our FATHER, who art in heaven!”

Genesis 1:3-4 (NKJV)
“Light Before The Sun”

Then GOD said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.  And GOD saw the light, that it was good; and GOD divided the light from the darkness.
-----------------------------------------------------------
In verse two, it tells us that the earth was without form and void!  It was deep in darkness as the Spirit of GOD was hovering over the waters.  Then GOD said, “Let there be light”  Please take notice that GOD doesn’t create the two great lights (sun and moon) until verse 16!  GOD placed The Light in the mist of deep darkness and there was division!  HE separated the light from the darkness.  The Light will always separate from the darkness!  Either your light is shinning or you are living in darkness!  GOD’s Light came to the earth for us to see . . . then HE sent HIS Son to the earth for us to see, believe and receive!!!!

“World Order”

In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth.
------------------------------------------------
Throughout history we find that there have been those who have strived to bring world order.  Some have tried to wipe out others in order to accomplish this self seeking mission to bring supreme order to the world!  In the very beginning . . . GOD created the heaven and the earth!  In the beginning there was world order!  HE is the GOD of order!  In fact, if you read all of Genesis chapter 1, you will find that HE even created things in order!  The sad thing is . . . when we look at our history books and read about all those who were attempting to bring world order . . . they messed things up worse!  GOD created world order and man has been messing it up every since the garden!

Scripture of the Day
John 9:1-3 (NKJV)
“Born Blind To See”

Now as JESUS passed by, HE saw a man who was blind from birth.  And HIS disciples asked HIM, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”  JESUS answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of GOD should be revealed in him.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

If we see someone with bags under their eyes, we may think “Man . . . they need some sleep” or if we see someone who is very thin, we may think “They need to eat”  in both cases, we will assume the person did something to cause themselves to be in the situation they are in.  When you see homeless people or street beggars, we will assume they did not manage their money or lives well and now they are paying for their bad decisions!  The disciples were assuming the same thing about the blind man!  Someone had to do something to cause the man to be blind, but JESUS showed them that the man was born blind to see!  He was born blind for the purpose of GOD giving him sight!  This man had lived his whole life blind until he met JESUS!  And all of us will live our entire life blind if we never meet JESUS!  We were all born blind . . . because we were all born into sin!  But when we accept JESUS . . . the lost are found and the blind can see!

“identity Theft”

He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.  An he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

---------------------------------------------------

A few months back, I had an incident with my identification being stolen!  Somehow they had taken a small part of my identity and made themselves credit cards.  My account numbers, with their names on them.  In other words, they put their name on the top of my identity!    Signing in their own name, but using my account.  Basically, they stole my identity and put their name and face on it!  Making it look like I gave them authority.  It wasn’t until I brought it to the attention of my bank, department stores, etc . . . that they realized it wasn’t me!  They were saying things like, “we have a signature on the receipt!”  and I would say, “That’s not my signature you are looking at . . . it’s not even my name!”

Satan is doing the same thing!  He is trying to steal the identity of GOD!  He will do things in front of man that will be deceiving!  Man (human) will look up and say it is a miracle from GOD, and GOD is saying, “That’s not MY miracle . . . it’s not even in MY Son’s name!”

Have A Blessed Weekend!

“Eyes On The Prize”

I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of GOD in CHRIST JESUS

-----------------------------------------------------------

Let’s try this today!  Periodically throughout the day . . . say, think, sing, or shout . . .  the name “JESUS!”  At the end of the day, what do you think your focus will be on . . .  That’s right!  Your mind will be set on JESUS!  I know it may seem like the ultimate prize is success (big house, expensive cars, etc.)!  Don’t misunderstand me . . . there is nothing wrong with having the blessings of GOD!  Wait!  That’s it! Our blessings come from GOD as we are in CHRIST JESUS!  So every time we think of the name above all other names, we know that the ultimate prize is of the upward call of GOD in CHRIST JESUS!

It may be raining . . . JESUS!  It may have been difficult for you to get out of the bed this morning . . . JESUS!  There may be some confusion in your relationship(s) . . . JESUS!  It may be the bill collector on the other end of the phone call . . . JESUS!  You may be struggling with your homework . . . JESUS! The car won’t start . . . JESUS! There is a life changing decision to make . . . JESUS!   Whatever the situation . . . there is encouragement, healing and deliverance . . . in the name of JESUS!  One of our dear friends is always telling her kids to “Stay focused!”  and I pray we all do the same!  Keep your Eyes On The Prize! I know everyone is going to have a blessed day! Not because I said so, but because GOD promised!

Clothing Your Identity - Colossians 3:12 (NIV)

Scripture of the Day
Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
"Clothing Your Identity"

Therefore, as GOD's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

--------------------------------------

Let's think about the super heroes.  They always have their super hero suit on . . . under other clothes to hide their identity!  Then when the time comes, they sneak off somewhere and take off the outer clothes to display their super hero identity!  Why don't they just walk around in their super hero suit and be who they are suppose to be!  Maybe it's because they will be expected to do super hero stuff all the time!  They can't say that the super hero suit is uncomfortable, because they always have it on under other clothes.  By covering their super hero clothing, they can decide when they will be a hero or pretend to be someone else!

As Christians, we are suppose to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience!  And many of us wear these spiritual garments . . . under our worldly clothes!  Instead of just walking around being clothed by what GOD has told us, we cover them up with allot of worldly clothing.  Then when we think the time is appropriate (church, Christian friends, etc.), we sneak off somewhere and display our Christian identity!  Why don't we just walk around with our spiritual garments showing all the time?  Is it because we will be expected to be Christians all the time!  Or do we cover our spiritual clothing so that we can decide when we will be a Christian or not!  Don't cloth your identity with the spirit of this world, but be dressed in the Spirit of GOD!

"Pop Quiz"

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of GOD:  Every spirit that acknowledges that JESUS CHRIST has come in the flesh is from GOD, but every spirit that does not acknowledge JESUS is not from GOD.  This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard in coming and even now is already in the world.

------------------------------------------

Here is the question . . . "Do you acknowledge that JESUS CHRIST has come in the flesh and HE is from GOD?"  For some, this is a question that is easy!  For some this is a question that is denied! And for some, this is a question that is rejected!  But we all have should ask ourselves the question . . . "Do we believe that JESUS came in the flesh and is HE from GOD?"  This quiz is either pass or fail . . . so be sure to answer correct!

CORRECT Answer: JESUS did come in the flesh and HE is from GOD!  Did I mention that this is an open book quiz!  In fact all the answers are in the Book!

“Tooting Your Own Horn”

But GOD forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
---------------------------------------------------
Not to take away from anyone’s accomplishments, but we are not to boast in/about ourselves!  We are not suppose to be walking around tooting our own horns!  If we are to boast, it must be about what our LORD JESUS CHRIST has done for us.  Again, rejoice in your accomplishments, but boast about the goodness of GOD!  I cannot boast, for I have nothing of my own to boast about . . . but I have everything in the LORD to boast about!  HE has done great things in my life!  Psalm 44:8, “In GOD we boast all day long, and praise YOUR name forever. Selah”  If there should be any tooting, sound the horns and trumpets for the LORD!

Sin Gives Birth To Death - 2 Samuel 11:14-17 (NIV)

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 11:14-17
"Sin Gives Birth To Death"

In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah. In it he wrote, “Put Uriah in the front line where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die.” So while Joab had the city under siege, he put Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were. When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of the men in David’s army fell; moreover, Uriah the Hittite died.

------------------------------------------

Again, James 1:15 tells us that when sin is full-grown, it gives birth to death!  David should have been out  on the battle field fighting with his men, instead of walking the roof-top!  Because of his own lustful desires, he looked upon another man's wife!  By giving into his desires, it dragged him into sin!  And in his sin another man's wife was to give birth to his child!  Although the child had not yet grown, the sin was full grown! This full grown sin was now giving birth to death!

Because, Uriah (Bathsheba's husband) would not go home to his wife (Uriah was committed to the war (read vs. 10-13)) when called from the battle field, there was no chance that David's sin could be covered up with a lie.  So instead of killing the sin with truth, David allow the sin to give birth to death!  He had Uriah carry his own death sentence!

Now David was the king, and he had rights to anything and anyone!  But because of his own shame, his sin had a direct impact on himself, Bathsheba, Uriah, Joab, and the unborn child!  No one can ever say, "My sin will only hurt me!"  Every sin hurts someone else, even when the sin is against yourself!!!

May the Word of GOD give us guidance to righteousness!

Evil Desire Gives Birth To Sin - 2 Samuel 12:11-14 (NIV)

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 11:2-5 (NIV)
"Evil Desire Gives Birth To Sin"

One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “Isn’t this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (She had purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then she went back home. The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”
---------------------------------

A man once told me that he keeps falling into sin! James 1:13-15 tells us that we are tempted by our own evil desire, then dragged away and enticed! And after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin!  Therefore, we give into our own evil desire and allow ourselves to be dragged away and enticed!  We don't just fall into sin!  It starts in our heart as a desire!  We all have thoughts that entice us, but when we feel ourselves being dragged away, we should ask GOD to kill it, and then cry out,  "LORD save me!"

I don't usually walk around stepping on my own toes, but just like many other SODs . . . I have to say "Ouch!" to this one!  It seems like enticement is everywhere!  It’s not just the sexual stuff that gets us!  Some of us are enticed by the "New Car Smell", big T.V., bigger house, more money . . . and the list goes on and on!  Regardless of which one, they all can drag us into sin! "LORD save us!"

I've Got Your Back - 2 Samuel 10:11-12 (NIV)

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 10:11-12
“I’ve Got Your Back”

Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for me, then you are to come to my rescue; but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come to rescue you. Be strong and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The LORD will do what is good in his sight.”
-----------------------------------
Joab and his brother, Abishai, were up against the battle lines of the enemies.  One group of enemies was in front and the other group of enemies was coming up from behind! Seeing what they were up against, Joab told his brother to watch his back, and he in turn would watch his brother’s back!
Here is a very big lesson for battle buddies!  In the mist of our own battles . . . we cannot forget about our brothers and sisters in CHRIST, for they have a battle too!  We must have each other’s back!  Every enemy is not always going to attack from the front; therefore, it is always good to know someone’s got your back!  And remember . . . the LORD is watching over us all!

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 9:9-10 (NIV)
"Blessings Overflow"

Then the king summoned Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “I have given your master’s grandson everything that belonged to Saul and his family.   You and your sons and your servants are to farm the land for him and bring in the crops, so that your master’s grandson may be provided for. And Mephibosheth, grandson of your master, will always eat at my table.” (Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.)

----------------------------------------

Psalm 23:5 says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows."  Mephibosheth thought King David was his enemy, but GOD showed him that who he thought was an enemy was a blessing!  King David blessed Mephibosheth with everything that had belong to his grandfather!  A blessing from two generations back (there is a sermon in that!).  Now!  My wife calls this the "Saucer Blessing"  When a cup of tea overflows, it spills over into the saucer!  It's the same tea from the cup to the saucer . . . right!  As King David was blessing Mephibosheth, the overflow went to Ziba, who was Saul's servant!  That's not all . . . Ziba had fifteen sons who were also blessed and twenty servants who were also bless!

Here is the point!  When your cup overflows with blessings from GOD . . . look around and see who else is being blessed!  GOD doesn't give you a blessing to keep in your pocket (cup), but HIS blessings overflow (saucer) for others to share in its goodness!

Love Sincerely,

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 9:6-8 (NIV)
"Blessings of A Promise"

When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor.  David said, “Mephibosheth!” “Your servant,” he replied.  “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?”

-----------------------------
Mephibosheth was crippled by fear at the age of five, because he was dropped by his nurse as she was fleeing!  However, he continued to be crippled by fear because he thought his life was in danger!  I'm sure he was told the story of how his grandfather, King Saul, was always trying to kill David!  And now that David was king, Mephibosheth was probably trembling with fear when he heard that the king wanted to see him!  Mephibosheth was not aware of the bond between his father and the king!  A vow that was made and a promise the king was determine to keep! To read about the vow, go to 1 Sam 20:14-17.  Because of the covenant between David and Jonathan, the Blessings of a  promise fell on Mephibosheth!
Because of the new covenant of JESUS' blood that was shed on the cross for our sins . . . the Blessings of The promise has fallen on us!  Just as Mephibosheth had to accept that blessing, we must accept the blessing of Salvation from GOD!

Crippled By Fear - 2 Samuel 4:4

Scripture of the Day
2 Samuel 4:4 (NIV)
"Crippled By Fear"

(Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became crippled. His name was Mephibosheth.)

-------------------------------------

When the news was heard that King Saul and his son Jonathan was killed, it cause a fear!  The fear caused them to panic!  When they panicked, they lost focus!  Mephibosheth's (Jonathan's son) nurse fled in fear!  She panicked . . . and it resulted in a five year old boy being crippled!  This left Mephibosheth "Crippled By Fear" as a man!  He saw his life in constant danger, because of the panic that took place years before when he was five!

When we (Christians) panic about everything that comes on the news . . . flee from the things we think might happen, we become "Crippled By Fear!"  Many folks have parents who believed everything was a conspiracy when they were younger and now as adults . . . they are "Crippled By Fear" too. Many government employees have heard the news of an upcoming furlough, but this should not leave them "Crippled By Fear!"  In fact, this is a great time to exercise the faith of "GOD will provide!"  Don't let fear cripple you from praying and praising the FATHER!

It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night, to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.

-----------------------------------------

We should always have a song to sing to the LORD!  We can write a new song every day to HIM!  Singing of all the things HE has done . . . for HE has done great things!! Your new song may not hit the music charts as the number one sell!  It may never be seen on MTV, BET, or YouTube!  But every song of praise you sing to the LORD will be like a sweet-aroma to HIS ears (even when you are singing off key!).  Wake up in the morning and sing about HIS love. Before you go to bed each night . . . sing about HIS faithfulness.  And all day long . . . sing about HIS grace and mercy!   In fact, you have something to sing about right now! "I love to praise HIM . . . I love to praise HIS name . . ." sing along!

"Inseparable Love"

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of GOD that is in CHRIST JESUS our LORD.

---------------------------------------------------

I am picturing a man (human) walking up a gravel road out in the middle of nowhere.  Seeing the peak of the horizon in the sun, he knows it is just a matter of steps to reach that destination!  That place every man longs for.  The wind blows hard against his chest, but he presses forward!  The rain of the storm loosens the gravel under his feet, but he keeps walking upward!  The pack of wolves growl at the man, but he stays focus on the destination!  For he has made up in his mind that nothing was going to hold him back.  He has seen it for himself and he will not be separated from this place!
Be convinced that the Love of GOD that is in CHRIST JESUS our LORD is worth climbing the tallest mountains, walking the longest valleys, and swimming across the deepest seas of life!  Knowing that nothing can separate you from HIS Love!  The winds will blow, the storms will come, and the wolf will growl, but you must be convinced . . . this day . . . that GOD has an inseparable love for you!  And HE will not let anything or anyone snatch you out of HIS hand!!!!!

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom:  the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

------------------------------------

Think about it! Cozy by the fire!  a place of comfort, warmth, and rest!  A place where there is no worry!  If you live in the colder parts of the world . . . you can appreciate a nice cozy fire, with a good book and the sounds of the angels!  GOD has that place for all of us!  When we accept HIS Son as our Savior and Lord, we have privilege to that comfortable, warm, and relaxing place!  We can be cozy by the fire just as Lazarus was!  Without CHRIST we will find ourselves tormented IN the fire!
Accept JESUS and get cozy by the fire, with the Good Book of JESUS and hear the angels rejoice!  It the arms of the Savior . . . cozy by the fire, but not consumed by the fire!  There is no place like home, when you live with GOD our FATHER!

"More Money, More Problems"

The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.

------------------------------------

I'm sure we have all heard the phrase of "More money, more problems!"  I have seen where money from the lottery actually caused more problems for the individual.  Just to start, everyone was claiming to be a relative and was looking for hand-outs!  Speaking of hand-outs, the IRS wants their share too!  Making a lot of money doing wicked things bring troubles!  You are always having to look over your shoulder to see what wickedness is lurking!

But the house of the righteous . . . you know the "honest day's work for an honest day's pay!"  Not many believe in that anymore!  But this house is not filled with income, but overflows with treasure! When you look around your house, do you see a lot of stuff  or do you see a lot of love?

HIS Tears of Prayer

Scripture of the Day
Hebrews 5:7-9
"HIS Tears of Prayer"

During the days of JESUS’ life on earth, HE offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save HIM from death, and HE was heard because of HIS reverent Submission.  Although HE was a son, HE learned obedience from what HE suffered and, once made perfect, HE became the source of eternal SALVATION for all who obey HIM.

-------------------------------------------

JESUS showed us compassion by doing what HE did!  JESUS also showed compassion by who HE is!  In John 11:35 it says, "JESUS wept."  That says a lot about GOD the Son!  HE wept for HIS friend!  And HE still weeps for us!  Throughout the New Testament we can see that JESUS prayed and cried out several times, to include HIS final cry out before HE gave up HIS Spirit!  Through HIS Tears of Prayer HE became the source of eternal Salvation!  Thank GOD that HIS Son suffered for us!

"Born of Flesh & Spirit"

JESUS answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of GOD unless he is born of water and the Spirit.  Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

---------------------------------------

I got so excited when I was doing my devotion in this book!  I mean, someone help me if I am a little off on this one!  Tell me if I am too excited about the way GOD has allowed me to see more in HIS Word!  But I had to stand up and thank HIM for giving my small mind a glimpse of HIS powerful Word!

JESUS said that we must be born of water and the Spirit in order to enter the kingdom of GOD!  HE said the Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit!  I always say, "It is not what would JESUS do (WWJD), but it is What Did JESUS Do (WDJD), because HE did it all"  JESUS has never told us to do anything that HE did not already do!  To include the birth! O.K.  In Luke 1:35, the angel told Mary that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and the power of the Most High will overshadow her, so that the holy one to be born will be called the son of GOD!

JESUS said that there must be a birth of flesh and Spirit!  JESUS was 100% man  (flesh) and 100% GOD (Spirit)!  Is it just me . . . or does anyone else see the power of GOD's Word!  I am so glad that I have been born again!
