When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have GOD speak to us or we will die.”

Family,
I’m sure a few of us can relate to what the Israelites felt. I know I have had to face the thunder of GOD’s commands! Exodus 20:1 says, “And GOD spoke all these words:” Then HE proceeded to give the people the commandments. When GOD finished speaking, the people responded in verses 18-19 (above verses). There is a chance that when GOD speaks in the gentle breeze or through the beauty of a nice little butterfly, we might ask, “Is that YOU LORD?” But when HIS voice is like Thunder . . . Face it . . . You know it’s GOD speaking!
